Vergift

I’m stranded
Out on the rock
Of the beach
Of your love

Searing sunshine
Simmering horizon
The boiling ocean

I’m sickly
By vergift
Your gift
To me
In the dying light
The fading embers
A sickly-sweet kiss
The taste of death
On those lips
Those tracing
Fingertips

Disheveled
Gone haywire
Watch the machine
Misfire
Tinker and toil
Ratchet and wrench
A thousand more pieces
For you to try and fit
Reconfigure
Reconstruct

My malleable heart
The blacksmith’s iron
Forge and shape
Temper and mold
Glowing white-hot
Searing sunshine
You’ve left my body
So very cold

Class Project: A Brief History of Alien Prohibition

Good morning! I don’t often ask much of my readers, but this is a small project we have done in our Introduction to Mass Communications class. We had roughly 90 minutes to come up with a concept and shoot the video. It’s a bit strange, but the more hits we achieve, the better grade we’ll get! So please, do us all a favor and give our video a look.

Voicemail

Hi,
It’s Justin.
I was just calling to let you know
that the night sky is brilliant,
and I wish you were here.
I’m standing in the sand on the seaside,
it’s a little cold, but I’m wearing
that jacket you said you always liked.
I’ve got my neck craned skyward,
and I spotted a shooting star,
I wished you were here.
Summer’s fading, the leaves will fall
but before they do, oh
such beautiful colors you know.
Remember the autumn foliage
and those endless drives
traipsing through the mountains
singing along to Pink Floyd’s
I Wish You Were Here.
So give me a call sometime,
I’d love to hear from you.
Take care,
and goodbye.

Ledge Lighthouse

Spring Point

Ledge Lighthouse at Spring Point. South Portland, ME

There are wooden park benches
each engraved with a message
to lost heroes and lovers
adjacent to a small paved path
at an old fort built along the coast
with the perfect view of the bay
dotted with stark white sailboats
fishing trawlers and bobbing buoys
feel the cool breeze of change
blowing gently at my back
and the sweet sea salt air
nesting deep within my lungs
it feels good to be alive
sitting on the ledge and
drinking in the ocean scene
with the sun shining down
reflected radiance comes
rippling from the waves
washing calmly onto the shore
lapping against the breakwater
down by the lighthouse

It’s Been Awhile…

I used to lay on the hood of my car
And look way up into the blue sky
Wondering if that was you passing by
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you

I used to lay out on the beach
And look way up into the night sky
Wondering if you were in the stars
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you

It seems as time has passed us by
We never felt like we should
We never did what we wanted to
When people saw us they smiled
And now all those people
Now they feel like they have to

The way we used to watch old movies
You took the role as my Grace Kelly
Dancing, laughing and playing til dawn
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you

Ideas

Is it true you’re coming ’round tonight?
Cos when you do my mind has the tendency
To become a little more reckless than usual
Nervously run my fingers through my hair
It’s all in the way you take to looking at me
I stammer when I speak, avert my eyes from yours
I’ve a few ideas if you’re willing to listen

We’ll watch the sun come up from the sea
You and I along some sandy quay
And darling when the night gets colder
You can rest your head on my shoulder
Oh, how it’s good to be free

I’ve heard rumors you’re coming ’round tonight
Cos when you do I can’t help but daydream
Looking off into space with a lopsided smile
Nervously run my fingers through my hair
It’s all in the way you take to speaking to me
All the words you say I’ll grin and acquiesce
I know you’ve got ideas and I’m all ears love

We’ll watch the sun come up from the sea
You and I along some sandy quay
And darling when the night gets colder
You can rest your head on my shoulder
Oh, how it’s good to be free
